Nepal
These economic challenges leave Nepalis very vulnerable to various forms of labor exploitation. Each year 10,000+ women and girls are trafficked from Nepal into the international sex trade, to be prostituted in brothels, primarily in India but increasingly around the world.
Purnaa, located in Kathmandu, Nepal is a business that provides world-class, ethical manufacturing which empowers marginalized people and survivors of exploitation to fresh starts and fulfilled lives.
Purnaa is a social enterprise, which means that we gauge our success by the lives we impact. All of our profits are reinvested to further our social mission of creating jobs for survivors of exploitation, such as human trafficking, bonded labor, and discrimination because of caste, religion, or disease.
At Purnaa, employees receive fair wages, literacy and skills training, health care, and employer matched savings in a positive work environment.
